Questions before you send

How should I price this job?

Measure the actual quantities and enter your own costs and margin. Prices start blank so you can prepare a proposal for the agreed scope.

Which units should I use?

Use an hour, item, area or clearly defined fixed-price service as appropriate. Explain what each quantity covers so the client can check the amount.

Which taxes apply?

The applicable rate depends on place of supply and transaction. Choices include GST 5%, HST 13%, Nova Scotia HST 14% since April 1, 2025, and HST 15% in the other participating provinces. Québec GST 5% and QST 9.975% apply to the price before tax. Quotisa calculates and displays them separately. Provincial taxes of 6% or 7% also need verification. Include required registration numbers and check sector-specific rules.

Does the PDF replace a required invoicing system?

Required GST/HST and provincial invoice information depends on the amount and transaction. Include the parties, date, supply details, amounts, taxes and required registration numbers. Check current information thresholds with the CRA and Revenu Québec. Mandatory billing sectors, including certain restaurant and passenger transport services, can require a specific system. Quotisa provides a local PDF and does not replace sector-specific systems or tax transmission.
